Review: Hotel La Tamise, Paris
I have stayed at numerous hotels across the globe, from tropical island resorts, to chic metropolitan hotels; however, none have a place in heart like Hotel La Tamise Paris. Without a doubt, this is THE BEST hotel I have ever encountered in all my travels.
I stayed at this wonderful establishment for three days during a solo adventure in the beautiful city of Paris. The hotel is conveniently located just steps away from the Tuileries Metro, on metro line 1. The hotel’s superb location means that you have access to all of Paris via the efficiently operated metro system. What’s better, is that the hotel is centrally located and you can virtually walk to most of the historical monuments and museums. The hotel is opposite the beautiful Tuileries Garden and about a five (5) minute walk away from the Louvre. It’s a few steps away from the Place de la Concorde, Avenue des Champs-Élysées and L'église de la Madeleine. I was even able to trot as far as St. Germain des Pres after my visit to Notre Dame Cathedral. Cafes are literally strewn across the main Rue Rivoli and during the summer time, the Tuileries Garden is transformed into an amusement park with an atmosphere of joy and excitement.
The hotel itself is spectacular. It personifies my vision of Paris. The décor embodies a mix of bold and neutral colors, with both classic and trendy prints, housed in the traditional building. The architecture alone is visually stunning, but is truly enhanced by the modernized trimmings and fixtures which add pizzazz and a feeling of true class. There are beautiful fresh floral bouquets adoring the reception and dining area, all uniquely arranged to add life to the space . The hotel also boasts a fascinating fashion library, housing the illustrations of Chanel, Dior and Oscar de la Renta, along with icons like Kate Moss... Quite fitting as the Tuileries Garden just next door is the hub for all things fabulous during Paris Fashion Week.
Breakfast was nothing short of a treat. Each morning I was personally served a selection of gorgeous french breads and pastries (the pain au chocolate is the best I had in all of France!), along with hot coffee, fresh fruits, decadent yogurt and trimmings of my choice (eggs, bacon, sausages etc) made to order according to my fancy, in the hotel's classy dining room. They even offer freshly squeezed juices, which is such a personal touch. This was the perfect way to start my day whilst perusing through my pre-planned google map routes or getting familiar with the Paris metro web.
What truly set this hotel apart for me in particular, was the personalized service. I have been the recipient of amazing customer service at other establishments many times over, however, at Hotel La Tamise, it never felt forced or mechanical. The staff here are warm, welcoming, genuine, and superbly trained. They are polite and friendly, without being invasive. The personal welcome note was truly a unique touch, something I will keep for years, until I visit again!
From the moment you enter these doors you will feel like this is where you belong, at the heart of Paris, feeling the warmth of Paris, in a chic and upscale setting, which is still inviting and authentic, without feeling staged. This gem will keep me dreaming of Paris all the days of my life!
